About Me

Dr Choong Kwai Fatt is a Tax Consultant and an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Business and Accountancy in University of Malaya. On 1 July 2009, he was appointed as the Deputy Dean of the said faculty.

On 28 December 2004 to current, he was appointed as one of the 8 members Tax Panel Review Board by the Minister of Finance to reform the Malaysian tax system and also to facilitate the implementation of Goods and Service Tax in the country.

Prior to joining the University of Malaya, he was a tax consultant, involving in both tax advisory and tax compliance through attachment with Malaysia Price Waterhouse Tax Services Sdn Bhd (now known as PriceWaterhouseCoopers Tax Services Sdn Bhd).

Dr Choong is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA), member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and fellow member of the Malaysia Association of Company Secretaries (MACS).

He holds a Bachelor degree of Accounting (Honours) from the University of Malaya, a Bachelor degree of Laws (Honours) from the University of London, a Master degree of Comparative Laws and also a Doctorate in Philosophy (Taxation Law) from International Islamic University of Malaysia.

He has written and published papers in local and international tax, law and accounting journal. He is also the author of the books:-
